The Perfect Grilled Cheese Sammie
What makes a grilled cheese sandwich perfect? Butter. And low heat. Period.
For 2
Ingredients
4 T Butter (cut into 12 slices)
4 slices of bread (I recommend Health Nut)
8 slices American cheese (you can use Cheddar cheese if you want to be all fancy)
Directions
Assemble your sandwiches by putting two slices of cheese on each piece of bread, and put them together. Or, as has been recently pointed out to me, just put four slices of cheese on one piece of bread, and put the other piece of bread on top. Put 3 slices of butter on the top of each sandwich.
Now, put 6 slices of butter in a sauté pan, turn the head onto low to medium low heat, and lay in your sandwiches, on the sides that don't have any butter on them (i.e., butter side up). Put a cover over the top of your pan. Covering ensures that your cheese melts thoroughly.
The first side will take around 5 to 8 minutes until it's golden brown. Flip the sandwiches, and cook the second side for about 3 minutes (again, covered).
And to up the ante, serve the sammies with tomoato and rice soup. Be sure to dip your grilled cheese into the tomato soup for the full effect.
